افتتح معالي محافظ البنك المركزي العراقي الأستاذ علي محسن العلاق، منافذ جديدة لبيع العملة الأجنبية (الدولار) إلى المسافرين في مطار بغداد الدولي.
وأطلع معاليه على آلية تقديم الخدمات التي ستقدمها شركات الصرافة على مدار 24 ساعة لزبائنها، مشدداً على سرعة إنجاز المعاملات من قبل المصارف الحكومية وشركات الصرافة التي تبيع الدولار للمسافر في مطار بغداد الدولي كونه محدد بوقت معين.
وأكد السيد المحافظ، أن خطوة فتح منافذ جديدة في المطار ستكون لها تأثيرات إيجابية سيما وأن حصول المسافر على حصته من الدولار يستغرق وقتاً قصيراً، منوهاً إلى أن عمل شركات الصرافة في المطار سيكون متابعاً من قبل البنك المركزي العراقي وسلطة الطيران المدني، فضلا عن فروع المصارف المفتوحة والتي تمارس عملها في تقديم خدماتها للزبائن ومنها بيع العملة الاجنبية للمسافرين.
وبحث معاليه خلال زيارته إلى مطار بغداد الدولي مع رئيس سلطة الطيران المدني السيد عماد عبد الرزاق الأسدي، تعزيز التعاون الثنائي والاجراءات الجارية لفتح منافذ جديدة في جميع مطارات العراق.

His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, opened new outlets for selling foreign currency (the dollar) to travelers at Baghdad International Airport.
His Excellency was briefed on the mechanism for providing services that the exchange companies will provide 24 hours a day to their customers, stressing the speed of completing transactions by government banks and exchange companies that sell the dollar to the traveler at Baghdad International Airport, as it is limited to a specific time.
The Governor stressed that the step of opening new outlets at the airport will have positive effects, especially since it takes a short time for the traveler to obtain his share of the dollar, noting that the work of exchange companies at the airport will be monitored by the Central Bank of Iraq and the Civil Aviation Authority, as well as bank branches. Open, which operates in providing services to customers, including selling foreign currency to travelers.
During his visit to Baghdad International Airport, His Excellency discussed with the Head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Imad Abdul Razzaq Al-Asadi, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and the ongoing measures to open new outlets at all Iraqi airports.

CBI Governor highlights significance of exchange rate stability in Iraq

Shafaq News / The Central Bank (CBI) Governor, Ali Al-Alaq, considered the exchange rate stability of the Iraqi Dinar against the Dollar as a "significant process" that necessitates changes in the Iraqi trade system and financial transactions outside the country. He made these remarks during his speech at the inaugural Annual Banking Conference in Erbil, held under the theme of "The Banking Sector: Opportunities for Advancement and the Future of International Companies."
Al-Alaq stated in his address, "It is essential to solidify the principles outlined in the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law No. 39 of 2018 and implement international practices and standards to safeguard the financial system's integrity from risks, both on local and international fronts, ensuring transparency and the safety of financial operations."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "We reiterate that these principles are the ones that preserve the financial system's integrity and protect Iraq from serious risks, particularly concerning the relationship between applying these rules and standards and foreign exchange operations and the sale of the Dollar in various forms."
Al-Alaq continued, "There is a close connection between enforcing these standards and the smoothness of transfer operations and maintaining exchange rate stability. To the extent of this commitment, we can determine monetary stability and exchange rate stability. This is a significant process that requires a multitude of changes and the restructuring of the Iraqi trade system, the foreign transfer system, and everything associated with it."
He pointed out that CBI is "engaging in this process with daily details until we reach the correct and proper path, opening new avenues every day to facilitate and expedite this process."
This is the announcement! It's as close as the CBI Governor can come in public.

The BIS hosts six committees, which are overseen by three senior groupings in the context of the Basel Process.
The Global Economy Meeting (GEM) provides oversight to three committees - the Committee on the Global Financial System, the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures and the Markets Committee - by appointing their chairs, receiving their reports and deciding on publication, and providing guidance on work priorities. A smaller group of central bank Governors in the Economic Consultative Committee supports the GEM by preparing proposals for discussion and decision by the GEM.
The Global Economy Meeting (GEM) comprises the Governors of 30 BIS member central banks in major advanced and emerging market economies that account for about four fifths of global GDP. The Governors of another 22 central banks attend the GEM as observers.
Chaired by Jerome Powell, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the GEM has two main roles:
monitoring and assessing developments, risks and opportunities in the world economy and the global financial system
providing guidance to three Basel-based central bank committees: the Committee on the Global Financial System, the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures and the Markets Committee
The GEM's economic discussions focus on current macroeconomic and financial developments in major advanced and emerging market economies.
